For me, spirituality comes down to a very personal connection to the Divine. Whether you practice a religion or not, it’s the feeling of Universal love; of Oneness; of being in awe of the all that is. I think people are questioning their beliefs more and questioning what organized religion has taught us. We're more open now, after being taught there was only one way. We now realize there are many paths to God. We’re working side-by-side with people of different faiths, people whom we see as good people. We're awakening to what God is really about, and that’s love, no matter what religion you practice.
In most of the holy books, they tell you to look for God inside yourself; not at a site or in a ritual or in another person. All those things can help, but it's about being quiet and finding God inside, though meditation, through nature, or even through music. The Bible says to ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Look within. The Holy Spirit dwells within you. And when you make that connection inside, that's true spirituality.
Quantum physics has opened a whole new world of mysticism. Scientists now report that everything is vibrating energy - humans, rocks, trees - everything is vibrating. As we awaken to a new consciousness, we raise the frequency of this vibrating energy and create a new world of love and compassion, instead of a world based on fear. We are in the midst of a giant leap in consciousness. A new awareness of things seen and unseen is happening among all people. In the book The Cultural Creatives, authors Ray and Anderson tell about this growing group of people who feel this change, this awakening, but feel they are alone. It's time for these enlightened beings to gather and grow and affect the future. There are many of these "cultural creatives" in this area and we are finding each other! And we are setting our intentions for a life filled with peace and interconnectedness.
In Eckhart Tolle’s book, A New Earth, Awakening to your Life’s Purpose, he says, “Once there is a certain degree of Presence, of still and alert attention in human beings’ perceptions, they can sense the divine life essence, the one indwelling consciousness or spirit in every creature, every life-form, recognize it as one with their own essence and so love it as themselves." At The Merging Hearts Holistic Center, we help foster the growth of this indwelling consciousness.
