Merging Hearts Holistic Center

Exploring the Mind-Body-Spirit connection.

Past Events

Some of our past programs have included:

Strong Hawk - On Saturday, March 22, 2008, a wonderful sacred Native American Pipe Ceremony was conducted by  Strong Hawk (Virgil Russell) to help bless our new site at the New Vision United Church of Christ, 3129 Market Ave N, Canton, OH 44714.

This ceremony is an ancient and traditional way to bring a focus to our prayers in communion with all our relations. A very heartfelt THANK YOU to Strong Hawk for a special evening of spiritual blessings.  Our gratitude is also extended to Shining Star Bear (Pam Fitch) and Yellow Squirrel (Salina Carper) for their roles in wonderful ceremony!

Strong Hawk has been apprenticed to a Choctaw elder for over 13 years learning Native American wisdom and traditional ceremonial ways. He is both trained and experienced in conducting Vision Quests, Sweat Lodges, House Blessings and Sacred Pipe Ceremonies. In order to add depth and meaning to these ways he also offers teachings from an ancient Ojibwe drawing known as the Peace Shield that can assist us in our quest for balance in our lives, and increase our familiarity with Native culture.  Part of Strong Hawk's Vision is to help incorporate ancient wisdom into our community’s need to redefine masculinity. To learn more about Strong Hawk’s work with men, please visit www.stronghawk.com. You can also contact him at stronghawk@excite.com to request classes or ceremonies.

Work Party - A big note of THANKS to all those who helped paint and enhance the look of The Loft, our new space at the New Vision United Church of Christ.  Volunteers put on their work clothes and brought their paint brushes, pans and rollers to the church.  Thanks also to those who brought food for our hungry workers.  Merging Hearts Holistic Center appreciates your donation of time and food for this worthwhile endeavor!

Kirtan - Sacred Chanting - In March 2008, Craig Wise and his talented group of musicians (Leigh Ann, Casey, and Stacy) led us in beautiful Sanskrit and Hindu chants.  It was a beautiful, meditative evening.  Craig surprised us with a few chants that infused some appropriate Beatles tunes and lyrics.  What a delightful night!

Eric Fitch - A Park Ranger with the Summit County MetroParks provided us with an entertaining and informative class on Edible and Medicinal Plants in Feb 2008.  Eric shared his knowledge gained from his degree in Recreation and Wildlife Management and from Native American elders, who gathered and used herbs in a sacred manner.  Eric brought many reference books, herbal teas, salve, lip balm, grinders, strainers and other devices he uses to process herbs.

Eric's wife and son joined us also and shared their knowledge of Native American flutes and played a few melodies!  What a great bonus to a wonderful evening!

Craig Wise - We had a special meditation session in February 08 as the awesome Craig Wise led us in a wonderful night of drumming!  Folks came together to enjoy the rhythm of the beats!

Folks brought their own drum or rattle or tamborine, or used one of the extras that were here!  Craig taught even the beginners how to merge with others in creating a spirited circle of drummers.  Thanks for a great night of spiritual connection through drumming!

Join us at future Drum Circles on April 2 and June 4, 2008!
