About the event

After the publication of Bessel Van der Kolk's book, "The Body Keeps the Score," and Stephen Porges' book on polyvagal theory, experts in the mental health field have emerged with a different approach to therapy. For years and years Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy were, and still are, viewed as top rated evidenced-based practices. Today there are more approaches that are known as bottom-up therapy. I will offer education about the various types of bottom-up therapy; and offer my opinion on how useful they are for processing trauma. I will also touch on the ways to improve our vagal tone and end with a metta meditation.
